The girl went to the dentist to get rid of toothache, but the operation did not bring any result. This is a unique case, experts thought, and they were right, because problems with the jaw should not be treated by a dentist. And this is another phobia in the piggy Bank of the main fears.

Student Nicole Kowalski from Los Angeles, California, in June 2017, felt unpleasant tingling in her teeth and went to the dentist, but the doctor said that the girl had nothing to worry about, writes Mediadrumworld.

Trusting the specialist, Nicole tried to ignore the pain. However, the sensations persisted for another six months, and eventually became so strong that the student’s sleep worsened.

Then the girl again turned to the dentist and asked for a full examination. At first, the student thought that she was brushing her teeth incorrectly, but it turned out that the problem was different.

After tests, tests and x-rays, doctors prescribed the American woman a course of treatment for a sinus infection, but even after the procedures, the pain still remained. During a follow-up visit to the dentist in January 2018, an x-ray revealed that part of the bone in Nicole’s upper jaw was missing. In the case of a man who hadn’t been to the dentist for 27 years, this gap could still be understood, but the girl was surprised.

The student was taken aback by the news, because experts constantly gave her different diagnoses, but calmed down when the dentist explained that to recover, she needed to remove the molar. According to the specialist, this would allow him to conduct a biopsy and find out what exactly tormented the girl for many years.

After regular examinations, the expert concluded that Nicole suffers from a rare but benign tumor, which had to be removed after a two-hour partial ectomy (removal of part of the jaw). After that, Nicole’s pain disappeared, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief, but, as it turned out, in vain.

During the operation, the student had four teeth removed, but the results were not as positive as expected by doctors. After the procedure, the girl was fitted with a special prosthetic retainer that covered the hole in the sky and allowed Nicole to eat, drink and talk. In this mode, the American woman had to spend two weeks, after which she had to come for a second appointment.

But Nicole was waiting for an unpleasant surprise: it turned out that all the procedures, including the removal of part of the jaw, were carried out in vain. A new examination revealed that the student was misdiagnosed, and all the while she needs to be treated for salivary gland cancer. Despite the fact that the girl’s grandparents suffered from cancer, she did not expect that she would face the disease herself.

“Given my age, I wasn’t ready for this. I spent the next 30 days undergoing radiation therapy, after which I developed many side effects. I couldn’t open my mouth, nine millimeters at most.”

But what worried the doctors most was that, despite the intensity of treatment, Nicole’s pain did not disappear, and the tumor continued to spread. In December 2019, a CT scan showed that the cancer is not losing ground, but only strengthening in the student’s body.

Then the doctors had to take drastic measures and remove the girl’s hard and soft palate, as well as seven teeth. Despite all the shocks, Nicole does not regret the procedures, because they eventually saved her from cancer and allowed her to return to normal life. Nicole is now getting used to her new jaw, enjoying her master’s degree, and has recently started Hiking in the Los Angeles area.
