Each of us can name offhand a few anti-heroes who are loved by the people, despite their antics. Recently, scientists conducted a study to find out why many people sympathize with villains, and came to the conclusion that they recognize some of their traits in them. For example, Petyr Baelish’s cunning or Moriarty’s high intelligence. And watching this character in a movie gives the viewer the opportunity to try on the role of the villain and see what happens.

Many viewers were left wondering how the main character of the film could even choose between the Vicomte Raoul de Chagny and the Phantom of the Opera. It is obvious that the comely Viscount is in many ways inferior to the genius villain, despite the fact that the latter hides a disfigured face under a mask.
