As with many other projects, production of the fourth season of Stranger Things was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, and since then the cast has been in the dark about the date of return to the set. However, it has now been announced that work on the new series is due to resume in Georgia in September. The upcoming season will consist of nine episodes. It is scheduled to be released exclusively on Netflix in 2021.
The series was highly acclaimed by critics and viewers, and received 6 Emmy awards and 30 nominations, including Best drama series, four Golden globe award nominations, and ten screen actors Guild award nominations, winning one award in the Best cast in a drama series category in 2017. The fourth season may be the last, since, according to the creators of the show, the Duffer brothers, four or five seasons of Stranger Things are planned.
