Vietnam war veteran Travis Bickle drives his lone taxi through the night streets of an endless city, and a grim panorama of human sins unfolds before him. As an old Testament prophet, he hopes that one day the heavens will send a saving rain that will cleanse new York of its age-old filth.
And when hope dies, only hatred remains. A shower of fire will descend on the heads of sinners. The taxi driver will take care of it.
